Alexa Karakos, Supply Office Manager

Alexa and her husband, Arthur, moved to Leland in December 2018 from the Poconos in PA. Alexa joined BPTA in January, 2019 after deciding that she was not ready for retirement. After a career in Early Childhood Education, the opportunity to work with more “mature” peers was a welcome change. As much time as possible is spent with her two grandchildren - Eleni who was born on Thanksgiving 2017 and Charlie who turned one in August of 2021.

Nikolos W Boehmer, PT DPT: Clinical Director Southport Office

 Nick holds his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and joined our Southport office, located in the St. James Square office park in April of 2017. Our clinic is approximately one-half mile from the main gate entrance to St. James. He received his degree from Duke University and has been licensed since 2005.  Nick has been with our practice since 2017 after serving the local community for 10 years as a home health physical therapist. He is originally from northeast Pennsylvania where he did his undergraduate work at East Stroudsburg University and received a BS in biology.  From there, he moved south to attend Duke University.  While in graduate school, he met his wife Stephanie and they moved to Southport in 2007.  They are the proud parents of triplets (Two Identical Twin Boys and a Girl) Oliver, Jakob, and Opal Grey. Nick is very involved in his children's extracurricular activities, specifically swimming, for which he is a coach for the Southport-Oak Island Marlins, and the Brunswick Aquatic Club Gators  Professionally, Nick strives to provide patient-focused, hands-on care that incorporates muscle balance and performance, skeletal alignment and pain management to treat dysfunctions of all types

Amanda Gillilan, PT, DPT : Supply Office

Amanda is mostly a NC native (military kid) who earned her BS in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University in 2009, and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from East Carolina University in 2013. She and her husband Allen have a wonderful daughter Skylar, a dog Baxter, and a cat. Amanda enjoys working with all age groups, and particularly loves working to improve gait and balance. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, walking in nature, growing plants, cooking, and being outside. 

Josh Long, PTA: Supply Office

Josh is originally from High Point, NC and a graduate from Guilford Technical Community College’s physical therapist assistant program. He has been a member of the BPTA family since December 2020 and moved to Bolivia in January of 2021. He and his wife, Emma, have two beautiful daughters, Brin and Sunny and enjoy anything that involves being in the great outdoors.

Teresa Harding, Shallotte Office Manager

Teresa a native of Southern California moved to Brunswick County NC and joined our team in June of 2020. Teresa comes to us with over 15 years experience in the medical field as an insurance verifier and admitting representative from one of largest hospital chains in California. Prior to her career in a hospital setting she was a debt collector for medical and insurance companies. Teresa is the office manager at our Shallotte office and is proud to serve the community in which she now calls home.  In her spare time, Teresa enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dogs, growing her own organic fruits and vegetables, fishing, experiencing North Carolina's wildlife, and relaxing on the beach.

Brittany Spears, PT: Sunset Beach Office

Brittany was born and raised in the state of North Carolina, and now lives in Southport, NC with her husband and two stepdaughters. She received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from UNC Charlotte. She then pursued her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Methodist University, located in Fayetteville, NC. Brittany is a recent graduate and accepted a position at the Sunset Beach location of Brunswick Physical Therapy Associates in August of 2021. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and does her best to provide them with compassion and motivation throughout their treatment. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, going to the beach, and spending time with her friends, family, and animals.

Scott Thomas, PT, BSC, Cert. MDT, CGS: Clinical Director Supply Office  & Shallotte

Scott is a co-owner/founder of Brunswick Physical Therapy Associates. He graduated from Bradford School of Physical Therapy in 1991. Scott has worked in all areas of rehabilitation over the past fifteen years with personal interest in outpatient orthopaedics. Scott is certified in the mechanical diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders through the McKenzie Institute. Scott is also a certified ergonomic specialist through the Atlanta Back Institute. He is also a certified golf fitness specialist specializing in the prevention and treatment of golf related injuries.

Amy Jackson, PTA  Clinic Manager Sunset Beach Office

Amy is the clinic manager for our Sunset Beach clinic and has been a licensed physical therapist assistant for over 20 years. She is a South Carolina native and graduated from Greenville Technical College in 1997 with an Associates' of Health Science degree in the physical therapist assistant program.  She has been practicing physical therapy since graduation and has been with  BPTA since April of 2008. Over the course of her career she has worked in many areas of rehabilitation. Amy continues to be committed to learning and has taken countless continuing education seminars in areas such as total joint replacements, back rehabilitation, shoulder treatments and surgical rehabilitation, balance and coordination rehabilitation techniques, as well as manual treatment techniques.  She is a caring clinician and loves what she does. Her goal for patients that come into the clinic is to have the best physical therapy experience possible. Please stop by our Sunset Beach clinic and meet her!

Benjamin Seitz, PT: Sunset Beach Office

Originally from Western PA, Ben graduated from Gannon University in 2010 with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He joined the staff of BPTA in Sunset Beach in 2018 after relocating to the area with his wife and son. Over the course of his career, he has worked in a variety of rehab settings including outpatient, acute care, inpatient rehab and skilled nursing and has treated individuals throughout the age ranges from infant to older adults. However, outpatient orthopedics has always been his passion. Ben also has experience managing both outpatient clinics and skilled nursing facilities. Professionally, he strives to provide his patient's with an enjoyable and beneficial experience that allows them to return to their active lifestyles. Ben and his family enjoy an active lifestyle in the Carolina sunshine outside of work. They enjoy participating in the local road running races, golfing, soaking up the sun at the beach and supporting local small businesses. They also enjoy watching their son golf and play baseball in the local dixie league and grow into an athlete and exceptional young man. 

Haley Wayne, PTA: Supply Office

Haley is a North Carolina native. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014. She then attended Fayetteville Technical Community College and graduated in 2017 from the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. Haley has worked in Acute Care, Skilled nursing and Outpatient therapy since graduating with most of her time spent in outpatient. She has been with BPTA since January of 2018. She works part time and spends the rest of her time at home with her two toddler aged children. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and going to the beach.

Sarah Griffith, Aide: Sunset Beach Office

Prior to moving to North Carolina, I lived in Ohatchee, Alabama for 20+ years.  While in Alabama I worked in Retail.  Before that, I lived a little bit all over, as my husband was in the military.  We moved here to NC in 2006 and after living here for about 5 months, I heard that Brunswick Physical Therapy Associates needed an Aide.  I applied for that position and was hired in August of that year.  I have now been with the company for 15 years.
